1. What to do if the device cannot connect to the internet and the indicator lights are abnormal?
When internet access fails, first check the indicator lights on the Onu Fiber Device. This is the most direct diagnostic method:
PON light/optical signal light abnormal: If the PON light is off or flashing, or the optical signal light is red, it indicates a problem with the fiber optic signal. Please check if the fiber optic cable is bent too tightly or if the connection is loose. If the line is normal but the red light is constantly on, it is usually a problem with the external line or the operator's equipment room, and you need to contact the operator for repair.
LAN port light off: If the LAN port indicator light connected to the computer or router is off, check if both ends of the network cable are firmly plugged in, or try replacing the network cable.
Indicator lights normal but unable to dial: If all indicator lights are normal but dialing fails and error codes (such as 678, 651) appear, it may be a line or data problem. Try restarting the optical modem. If codes such as 691, 619 appear, it may be due to an incorrect broadband account password or unpaid bills. You need to check or contact the operator.
2. What to do if the Wi-Fi signal is unstable or cannot be found?
Wireless issues can be addressed from the following aspects:
Confirm Wireless Function is Enabled:Connect your computer and the optical modem with an Ethernet cable, log in to the management interface (usually 192.168.1.1), and check if the Wi-Fi function is enabled in the "Wireless Network" settings.
Optimize Signal Coverage:Place the Onu Fiber Device in the center of the house, away from appliances such as microwave ovens. If the optical modem supports dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), try connecting to the 5GHz band for a more stable speed, although its wall penetration is slightly weaker.
Try Restarting:Turn off the optical modem for a few minutes and then turn it back on; this can sometimes resolve temporary problems.
3. What if the internet speed feels unsatisfactory?
If the internet speed feels slow, check the following in order:
Exclude Background Devices:Check if any devices are downloading large amounts of data in the background (such as videos or updates). You can check the number of connected devices and limit their speed through the "Device Management" function in the optical modem's management interface.
Distinguish Between Wired and Wireless:Connect your computer directly to the optical modem with an Ethernet cable to perform a speed test. If wired speed is normal but wireless is slow, the problem lies in the Wi-Fi environment; if wired speed is also slow, the issue may be with the optical modem or the line.
Check the fiber optic signal quality: Log in to the optical modem's management interface (using the username and password found on the back of the device). Check the optical power or attenuation value in "Status Information" or "Network Side Information." The ideal range for received optical power is typically between -8dBm and -27dBm. Values that are too low (e.g., below -28dBm) or too high can cause unstable network speeds.
Device performance bottleneck: If your home broadband speed is higher than 100Mbps, but the optical modem's LAN port is only 100Mbps, it will limit the network speed.
