1.How to Get and Use This Fibre Optic ONT?

The EG8245W5 Fibre Optic ONT is not a typical consumer retail product. Here's what you need to know:

Acquisition: This device is supplied by Internet Service Providers (ISPs). You typically receive it as part of your fiber internet subscription package. While some telecom equipment resellers list it (prices around €110)-5, buying it separately is not recommended unless you are a network professional, as compatibility with your ISP's network is not guaranteed-2.

Usage: Its primary function is to connect to your ISP's fiber network. Most advanced features (like Wi-Fi settings or port forwarding) are managed by logging into the device's web configuration interface using the admin credentials, which are often provided by your ISP.

Target User: It's designed for residential users and small offices (SOHO) needing robust fiber access with integrated high-speed Wi-Fi, multiple Ethernet ports, and landline phone support

2.How can I change the default Wi-Fi name and password pasted on the Fibre Optic ONT device to make it easier and safer for myself and my family to connect?

A: This is the first step you need to take after receiving the Fibre Optic ONT. Please follow these steps:

• Find your "admin" password: This is crucial. The password is usually printed on a sticker on the bottom or side of the device, labeled "Terminal Configuration Password," "Default Wireless Network Key," or "PASSWORD." This is different from your initial Wi-Fi password and is used to log in to the admin panel.
• Connect the device: Use your phone or computer to connect to the default Wi-Fi network (the name and password are also on the sticker) on the back of the device.
• Log in to the admin panel: Open your phone or computer's browser, enter the admin address in the address bar: 192.168.1.1, and press Enter. On the login page that appears:

The username is usually user or admin.

The password is the "Terminal Configuration Password" you found in step one.

• Modify Wi-Fi settings: After logging in, find the "Wi-Fi Settings," "Network," or "Wireless Network" option in the menu. Here you can:
• Change SSID (Network Name): Give your 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks easily recognizable names, such as "Home-WiFi" and "Home-WiFi_5G".
• Set a New Password: Be sure to set a strong password consisting of letters, numbers, and symbols, with a recommended length of at least 8 characters.
• Dual-Band Combination: You can choose to enable the "Dual-Band Combination" function, allowing the device to automatically select the optimal frequency band for your device (2.4GHz has better wall penetration, 5GHz is faster). However, for devices used for gaming, high-definition video streaming, etc., it is recommended to manually connect to the 5GHz network for a more stable and faster experience.
• Save and Restart: After making changes, remember to click the "Save" or "Apply" button. The device may restart; afterwards, please reconnect to Wi-Fi using your newly set name and password.
