Q: How to repair the broken fiber optic splicing equipment?

After long-term use, fiber optic fusion splicers inevitably encounter some problems. Sometimes, the machine experiences fatal faults, such as damage to internal components, which require repair at the factory. However, most of the time, simple faults occur that can be resolved by the user themselves. For example, many fiber optic fusion splicers do not react to the machine after being turned on, which is just a small issue in daily maintenance.

 

1. After turning on the switch of the fiber optic fusion splicer, the screen showed no brightness, and after opening the windshield, it was found that the horizontal lighting on the electrode base was not on.

Solution:

(1) Check if the power plug socket is properly plugged in, and if not, plug it in again.

(2) Check if the power fuse is disconnected, and if it is, replace the backup fuse.

 

2. The fiber optic can be reset normally. When setting the gap, the screen darkens, there is no fiber optic image, and the screen display stops at "setting the gap".

Solution:

Check and confirm if the windshield is pressed in place or if the springs are in good contact.

 

3. After turning on the fiber optic fusion splicer, "Battery depleted" appears below the screen and the buzzer keeps ringing.

Solution:

(1) This phenomenon generally occurs when using battery power, and only needs to replace the power supply.

(2) Check and confirm if the power fuse box is tightened.

 

4. The fiber optic can be reset normally, and when setting the gap, the fiber appears on the screen but stops moving, and the screen display stops at "set gap".

Solution:

(1) Press the "Reset" button to reset the system.

(2) Open the windshield and open the left and right pressure plates respectively. Perform the following checks in sequence:

(4) Check if the fiber cutting length is too short.

(5) Check if the fiber tray matches the fiber optic cable. And carry out corresponding processing.

Solution:

It may be caused by excessive dust deposition on the eyepiece of the microscope in the optical system. Use a cotton swab to wipe the eyepiece of the horizontal and vertical microscopes. If there is no obvious dust observed with the eyes, try again.

 

6. The optical fiber can be reset normally. When setting the gap, the screen will display "Set Gap", and after a period of time, the screen will display "Reinstall Optical Fiber".

Solution:

(1) Press the "Reset" button to reset the system.
