Characteristics of CAT5A Lan Cable
1. Transmission speed: This so-called "five types of UTP" cannot achieve a data transmission rate of 100Mbps, with a maximum of 10Mbps or 16Mbps.
2. Manufacturing process: The twisting degree of the UTP centerline pair in Class 5 is denser than that in Class 3, and in Class 5, it is denser than that in Class 5. The twisting degree of twisted pair cables has strict standards in production. In actual purchasing, some professional equipment can be used to measure under certain conditions, but general users can only observe with the naked eye.
3. Cable Pairs: In the American Cable Standard (AWG), Category 3, Category 4, Category 5, and Super Category 5 twisted pair cables are defined as 4 pairs, and in Gigabit Ethernet, all 4 pairs of wires are required for communication. So, there should be 4 pairs of wires in the standard Category 5 cable.

FAQ
What is a twisted-pair network cable?
Twisted-pair (TP) is the most commonly used transmission medium in structured cabling projects. It consists of two insulated copper conductors. By twisting the two insulated copper conductors together at a certain density, the radio waves radiated by each conductor during transmission are offset by the waves emitted by the other conductor, effectively reducing signal interference.
Twisted-pair cable is typically made of two 22-26 gauge insulated copper conductors twisted together, hence the name "twisted-pair." In practice, twisted-pair cable consists of multiple pairs of twisted wires encased in an insulated cable sheath. When one or more twisted pairs are placed in a single sheath, it becomes a twisted-pair cable. However, in daily life, "twisted-pair cable" is often simply referred to as "twisted-pair cable."
Compared to other transmission media, twisted-pair cable has certain limitations in terms of transmission distance, channel width, and data speed, but it is relatively inexpensive.
Twisted-pair cables are classified according to the ISO/IEC 11801 standard. Commonly, there are three categories: Category 5 lan cable, CAT5A Lan Cable, Category 6 lan cable, Category 7 lan cable, and Cat7e lan cable. Category 5 has thinner wires, while Category 5e has thicker wires. The models are as follows:
1. Category 5: This cable has increased winding density and a transmission bandwidth of 100MHz. It is used for voice transmission and data transmission with a maximum transmission rate of 100Mbps. It is primarily used in 100BASE-T and 10BASE-T networks and has been replaced by Category 5e.
2. CAT5A Lan Cable: It features low attenuation and crosstalk. It has increased near-end crosstalk power and testing requirements compared to Category 5, and offers higher attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio (ACR), signal-to-noise ratio, and lower delay error, significantly improving performance. Category 5e has a maximum bandwidth of 100MHz.
3. Category 6 cabling offers transmission performance far exceeding the CAT5A Lan Cable standard and is best suited for applications with a transmission rate of 1Gbps. A key difference between Category 6 and Category 5e is improved crosstalk and return loss performance. Excellent return loss performance is crucial for next-generation full-duplex, high-speed network applications.
4. Category 6a is an improved version of Category 6, released in 2008. It is also a twisted-pair cable specified in the ANSI/TIA-568C.2 and ISO/IEC 11801 Category 6a/Class EA standards, primarily used in 10 Gigabit networks. It has a transmission frequency of 500 MHz and a maximum transmission speed of 10 Gbps, with significant improvements in alien crosstalk and other aspects.
5. Category 7: This twisted-pair cable was approved in 2002 in the ISO/IEC 11801 Category 7/Class F standard. It is primarily designed to accommodate the application and development of 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology. However, it is no longer an unshielded twisted-pair cable, but a shielded twisted-pair cable, allowing it to transmit at least 600 MHz at a speed of up to 10 Gbps.
