Products Description

Category 6 (CAT6) CAT6 UTP Lan Cable is a type of network cable that complies with the CAT-6 standard. Its transmission rate is 1000Mbps.

Materials
CAT6 UTP Lan Cable has established new performance evaluation criteria. It uses 23AWIG single-strand bare copper conductors, polyethylene polymer insulation, and a flame-retardant gray outer sheath. The twisted-pair cable meets international standards (ISO/EC) and boasts electrical properties exceeding those of Category 6. The center cross ensures next-generation performance and a reasonable bend radius. LSZH stands for "Low Smoke Zero Halogen." Low-smoke zero-halogen materials meet safety and environmental requirements.

Cable Usage
The central cross braid rotates as the cable length changes, securing the four twisted pairs within the braid's grooves. This maintains the relative position of the four twisted pairs, improving cable balance and crosstalk attenuation. Furthermore, the cable's balanced structure must be maintained during installation. Category 6 unshielded twisted-pair cable has a bare copper wire diameter of 0.57mm and an insulation diameter of 1.02mm. The diameter of the UTP cable is 6.53mm. Thicker wire diameter is preferred for signal stability.

Advantages

It can be used for voice, ISDN, ATM 155Mbps and 622Mbps, 100Mbps TPDDI, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet; it has longer transmission distance, lower transmission loss, and is more wear-resistant and pressure-resistant than Category 5 and Category 5e.

FAQ

How to distinguish Category 5e from CAT6 UTP Lan Cable?

The main differences between Category 5e and CAT6 UTP Lan Cable are as follows:

Bandwidth: Category 5e has a bandwidth of 155 Mbps, while Category 6 has a bandwidth of 250 Mbps.

Transmission Rate: Category 5e can be used in Fast Ethernet with a speed of 100 Mbps; Category 6 can be used in Gigabit Ethernet with a speed of up to 1000 Mbps.

Structural Difference: Category 6 cable has an insulated cross-ribbon with the four twisted-pair pairs placed in four grooves. Category 5e, on the other hand, has only a white, tensile-resistant filament in the center.

Diameter Difference: The bare copper wire diameter of Category 6 unshielded twisted-pair cable is 0.57 mm (wire gauge 23 AWG), the insulation wire diameter is 1.02 mm, and the UTP cable diameter is 6.53 mm. Category 5e twisted-pair cable has a bare copper wire diameter of 0.51 mm (wire gauge 24 AWG), the insulation wire diameter is 0.92 mm, and the UTP cable diameter is 5 mm.

How to determine if the CAT6 UTP Lan Cable is shielded or not?

There are three ways to determine if a cable is shielded: by looking at the cable sheath markings, observing the cable's internal structure, or judging based on the usage scenario.

1. Check the CAT6 UTP Lan Cable Sheath Markings
The cable sheath usually displays information such as the brand, wire gauge, and type. Shielded cables will have designations like STP or SFTP printed on the sheath, while unshielded cables will have UTP printed on them.

2. Check the CAT6 UTP Lan Cables Internal Structure
Shielded cables have an additional layer of metal or aluminum foil, which acts as a shield, compared to unshielded cables. Shielded cables can be single-shielded or double-shielded. Single-shielded cables have only one layer of aluminum foil, while double-shielded cables have an additional layer of metal mesh. Shielded cables also have an internal ground wire (aluminum wire) to direct current to the ground, improving interference resistance.

3. Determine the use case based on the scenario.
Unshielded Ethernet cables may experience network transmission issues such as intermittent or even outright signal loss in environments with high interference, especially in high-voltage applications. Shielded Ethernet cables are highly resistant to interference, ensuring normal internet access even in high-interference environments.
