Optical modules are classified according to their packaging forms, commonly including SFP, SFP+, SFF, Gigabit Ethernet Interface Converter (GBIC), etc; Classified by transmission rate, transmission rate refers to the number of bits transmitted per second, measured in Mb/s or Gb/s.
The optical module products cover the following main speeds: low speed, 100Mbps, 1G, 2.5G, 4.25G, 4.9G, 6G, 8G, 10G, and 40G. Small form factor pluggable transceiver (SFP) modules are currently the most widely used.
SFP optical modules can be selected with wavelengths of 850nm, 1310nm, 1490nm, 1550nm, etc., with a rate of 0-10Gbit/s; SFP+optical modules can be selected with wavelengths of 850nm, 1310nm, 1270nm, 1330nm, etc., with a speed of 10Gbit/s.
